What does this mean for you?
Historically the IRS opens tax e-File in late January each year. Why is the IRS running behind this year?
A. Due to legislation passed on December 27th the IRS is scrambling to update their systems with updated forms.
B. Distributing the latest round of Economic Stimulus Payments to individuals has the IRS busier than normal this January.
C. The IRS is significantly backed up with work, especially processing paper mail, due to COVID-19 pandemic. As of January 2021, we are still waiting for IRS responses from correspondence we sent the IRS back in March 2020.
Overall, we can start helping get your taxes prepared. However, those that like to file as soon as possible will have to wait until mid-February this year to e-File.
